The Berman Center Clinic

The Berman Center is a sexual function center.  Our expert staff provides couples and individual therapy and intensive retreats.  Our goal is to address the challenges women and couples of all ages face, in a soothing, confidential setting.

Laura A.C. Berman, LCSW, Ph.D.

President and Director of the Center

Dr. Laura Berman is Director of the Berman Center in Chicago, a modern facility dedicated to helping women and couples repair their sex lives.  Dr. Berman is also an assistant clinical professor of OBGYN and Psychiatry at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. She has been working as a sex educator and therapist for 20 years and is a leading researcher in her field.

Considered a thought leader in her field, Dr. Berman has appeared in nearly every major publication, newspaper, radio and television show, including "Oprah," CNN, "Good Morning America," "The Today Show," The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Marie Claire, Elle, Fitness, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Jane, Self, More and Redbook.

Dr. Berman also starred in Showtime's upcoming television series, "Sexual Healing," which will be filmed at the Berman Center.

She is a columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times. She is also coa-author of The New York Times best-selling book, "For Women Only: A Revolutionary Guide to Overcoming Sexual Dysfunction and Reclaiming Your Sex Life" as well as "Secrets of the Sexually Satisfied Woman: 10 Keys to Unlocking Ultimate Pleasure," "Passion Perscription:  10 Weeks To Your Best Sex Ever," and most recently "Real Sex For Real Women."

After obtaining her Master's in Clinical Social Work and Doctorate in Health Education and Therapy (specializing in human sexuality) at New York University, she went on to complete a training fellowship in Sexual Therapy with the Department of Psychiatry, New York University Medical Center.

Dr. Berman is Chair of the Women’s Sexual Health State-Of-The-Art series, an accredited program for the Council of Continuing Medical Education and currently serves on the foundation board of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS). She is also a member of the American Association of Sex Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and one of few non-medical members accepted into The American Urological Association (AUA).
